Description

Bacteria is a wonderful game played by kids on streets in Peru. It usually starts with a tag team throwing an object - a ball of sorts - up in the air and then chasing down other kids to tag them and lock them in place. The locked kids are called Bacteria. In some versions of the game, the untagged kids can free up the tagged/locked kids leading to a perceptual running and catching game. The game stops when all kids are Bacteria-ed. Why are we showcasing this game? Because its name sounds eerily similar to the deadly micro-organism, the Bacteria game does not obtain the cheer that it deserves, especially in this post-pandemic world! In fact, as of this writing, the entire google catalog returns just two search results when we search for this game. For other, street games played by kids in Peru, see this.

Stay tuned! Good days ahead!!!
